The Importance of UI UX design
User experience (UX) is integral for any product or application's success. User experience is the overall experience a user has while using a certain product service, or system. An example of a product with UX can be an electric kettle. There are different things to note like where the button is to open the top hatch to let water come through, what type of button is it, etc. An example of a system can be the way the washing machines are set up at your dorm. UX design can create a positive or negative experience which can determine sales, retention.
What makes good UX design? A good user experience is an efficient experience. Navigation is key to the user being able to have the most efficient experience possible. To achieve this, research is needed to determine how users engage with whatever is being designed. There may be a pre conceived bias in the designer's head of how it should be used so, user testing will help pinpoint opportunities for optimization that were not clear before. Some opportunities could include creating interactive tutorials, using clear and concise language, and designing engaging visuals.
Having a good UX design could also increase brain loyalty. People can incorporate using the usage of whatever item into their daily routine. Accessibility is important because you want everyone no matter what circumstances and or hardships, they are going through in their life to be able to use the design how it was meant to be. UX design increases engagement which could then boost the brand in search engine optimization. UX should decrease the usage of customer support. The first impression is the most important to the user because that is how they will remember you. The less support a customer needs, the less friction they have when engaging with the brand.
According to Spiralytics, on average, every $1 invested in UX brings a return of $100.
UX has more benefits like potentially increasing the conversion rate of your website. On average a customer would probably pay more if they had a good experience that was easy and intuitive. According to Emily Stevens, 84% of customers say the company experience is just as important as what the company is selling. If the UX is good, 72% of customers will tell up to 6 other people about it which is great for company morale.
On the contrary. Having bad UX design is detrimental because 70% of customers purchasing items online end up ditching their cart altogether due to the lack of an intuitive design. If customers ditch the purchase, they are far less likely to revisit the website. “90% of users reported that they stopped using an app altogether due to a poor user experience. (Emily Stevens)” It's safe to say that a good UX design is one of the most integral parts of a design project.
